Short Stack: New Years Perspective
2024 was not perfect, but it was not nearly as bad as 2020. Let us remember. Let us never forget. Let us make sure it never happens again.
In recent days, many people have taken to social media to lament how bad 2024 has been, in a hurry to put this year in the past. I understand their perspective. I’ve had my own struggles, including health problems and other challenges.
Still, 2024 was nowhere nearly as bad as 2020.
Let us remember what happened in 2020: Government officials took our money and sent it to foreign laboratories for the purpose of creating dangerous viruses. And when those viruses escaped the lab—or were purposefully released from the lab—our own government, with a straight face, denied any involvement.
Government spokespeople openly mocked anyone who suggested that the COVID virus might have originated in the one and only virus research lab located in the very town where the virus was first detected!
Then, power-hungry Democrats shut down businesses, made it a crime to visit loved ones (while they continued to dine secretly with family and friends at fancy restaurants), issued shelter-in-place orders, closed schools, destroyed trillions of dollars of capital, wrecked international economies, and forced citizens—in the name of science—to comply with arbitrary measures that had nothing to do with science.
As they did these terrible things, they had the gall to say they were doing them for our own good. A guilty conscience is hard to fool, even with lies that are repeated often.
They also changed the rules for the 2020 elections, in many states, and at the last minute, often without any legal authority to do so, for their own partisan benefit.
To boot, in Andrew Cuomo’s New York, Tim Walz’s Minnesota, Gretchen Whitmer’s Michigan, and other states, progressive politicians issued emergency executive orders that killed thousands of people, likely tens of thousands, many of whom were forbidden from seeing their families as they breathed their final dying breaths.
Let us never forget how truly terrible Democrats made 2020.
Let us be thankful that 2024 was not 2020. Let us look forward to new opportunities and expanded freedoms in 2025 and the years beyond. Let us resolve, together, and forever, never again to allow progressive power-mongers and control freaks to do to us what they did in 2020.
That might be the perfect national motto as we welcome in the new year of 2025: Never again! Never, ever, ever, again!
Happy New Year.
