Unjust people living in unjust regimes don’t wring their hands with concern over how to abolish the injustice of slavery. Good people living in a good regime based upon the principles of justice, do.
Thank you, Jill! I really mean what I said and wrote: It is so odd to me that Republicans -- who made Juneteenth happen -- have for the most part ignored this amazing story of emancipation and freedom.
Thomas: Sadly, what has become of the proper recognition of "Juneteenth" is, in a fashion, what has happened to the term "capitalism." The usual suspects have assured the maintaining of the perversion of the term, for the same reason. The former perversion in support of their hostility toward individual "liberty," the latter because it recognizes Republican responsibility for the political abolishment of slavery!
Of even greater sadness, Republican failure to properly tout their unprecedented achievement in the face of Democrat evil, over which they have triumphed!
So grateful for your take on this holiday.

I agree!! I posted it on my X account and shared it with others. We need to know. It should be celebrated by Republicans.
