How much did the founding fathers look to the books by Montesquieu? He went all over the world looking at various forms of government and how the people responded to those governments.

The Founders borrowed heavily from Montesquieu. He is the most cited and the most frequently quoted author within the pages of The Federalist Papers, where he is referred to as "the celebrated Montesquieu" and an "oracle."
